WORK PLAN SUPPORT & CONTROL
Prepare. Verify. Control. Release.
A defined process for wrapping the field team’s actual execution sequence with the current project information required before significant work begins.

| Work Plan Support & Control | Included within Project Engineering Support | Projects using formal work plans, pre-activity plans, installation plans or significant coordination-sensitive activities |
1. What This Service Does
Your Superintendent already knows how the work should be built. What consumes time is pulling together the current drawing revision, approved submittals, governing RFIs, specifications, testing requirements, inspections and open approvals before the crew mobilizes.
RPE takes the field sequence supplied by the PM or Superintendent and builds the controlled work-plan package around it. We identify missing approvals, organize the supporting records, maintain the Work Plan Log and revise the package when controlling project information changes.
2. Why It Matters
The value is not that RPE “writes the work plan.” The value is that the field plan is supported by the correct project information before the work starts.
- Current drawings — not the bid set.
- Approved materials — not pending submittals.
- Closed RFIs — not unresolved questions.
- Known testing, inspection and administrative hold points.
- Controlled revisions — not outdated work-plan packets.
- Visible readiness gaps before mobilization — not after the crew is waiting.
3. What Is Included
- Pull current drawing revisions and applicable specifications.
- Pull approved submittals, shop drawings and governing RFIs.
- Identify applicable testing, inspection and administrative hold points.
- Flag missing approvals, unresolved RFIs and incomplete supporting documentation.
- Format the field-provided sequence into a controlled work-plan package.
- Assign Work Plan IDs and maintain the Master Work Plan Log.
- Include current supporting exhibits, details, callouts and controlled attachments.
- Maintain revision history and supersede outdated work-plan packages.
- Distribute the approved package through the agreed project hub.
4. How the Process Works
The standard workflow is: Field Trigger → Document Harvest → Readiness Gap Check → Package Assembly → PM / Superintendent Sign-Off.
5. What a Standard Work Plan Package Contains
- Cover sheet with project name, Work Plan ID, trade, activity, location, target start and revision status.
- Activity scope and field execution sequence supplied / approved by field leadership.
- Current drawing references and revision dates.
- Approved submittals and shop drawings governing the activity.
- Closed RFIs affecting the work.
- Relevant specification and administrative requirements.
- Testing, inspection and hold points before concealment, pour, startup, energization, tie-in or other critical stages.
- Supporting exhibits, plan snippets, details, sketches and approved product data.
- Required sign-off fields based on the contractor’s process.
6. Responsibilities and Handoffs
The field owns the how. RPE controls the supporting project information. RPE does not independently create or approve means and methods.
| RPE CONTROLS | PM / SUPERINTENDENT / FIELD OWNS |
| Current documents, approved submittals, governing RFIs, testing / inspection requirements, readiness gaps, package assembly, Work Plan IDs, revision control and distribution. | Means and methods, crew size, equipment, field sequencing decisions, production assumptions, safety methods, site verification and final approval for field execution. |
7. Revision Control
Every issued work plan is revision-controlled. If a drawing, RFI, approved submittal, specification directive or other controlling document changes, RPE determines whether the work plan is affected, updates the package, marks the prior version superseded, updates the Master Work Plan Log and redistributes the revised package.
8. What You Receive
- A controlled work-plan package tied to the current project record.
- A visible list of readiness gaps before planned mobilization.
- A Master Work Plan Log with current status and revision history.
- A package the PM / Superintendent can review instead of rebuilding from scattered project documents.
- A controlled field briefing package that can be used for pre-activity / tailgate coordination.
9. What We Need From Your Team
- The actual field sequence / execution concept from the PM or Superintendent.
- Expected start date, activity scope, location and known manpower / equipment assumptions.
- Access to current project documents and the agreed project platform.
- Timely PM / Superintendent responses when readiness gaps or missing approvals are identified.
- Final review and approval of means, methods, sequencing, safety and field execution.
10. Service Boundaries
- RPE does not independently determine construction means and methods.
- RPE does not determine crew size, labor allocation or production rates.
- RPE does not select field equipment or direct site operations.
- RPE does not approve safety methods or site-specific safety controls.
- RPE does not perform physical field inspections or verify installed work.
- RPE does not replace the Superintendent, Foreman or Project Manager.
